I dont know about Missouri specifically, but here they usually lose their velvet around the first of September.

Some time in Sept. I know a bunch of guys report seeing buck in velvet with MO's early bow opener. Around Labor day they should start shaking it loose, but not uncommon to see a few with it still on into the first week of Oct.

Opening day last year I saw 6 bucks, none had velvet. That was in Central MO.

Just wondering if the buck I have picked out will still be in velvet on opening day. as long as he doesn't change his patterns to much i got him pinned down.
