Default Ya'll can keep the speed....I'm goin heavy.

I don't know why I like to stir this pot so much, but I do.

I built my hunting arrows tonight, and I am impressed. I've got a 480 grain arrow flying 281 FPS, w/ a 22% FOC. I have never in my life seen an arrow fly so beautifully from a bow. I've been a huge fan of the blazers, and a huge fan of the light/fast carbon arrow. But after shooting these for a while tonight......Heck with it. Feathers and heavy arrows all the way.

Ahhhhhh you have seen the light grasshopper. High FOC and heavy arrows are the way to go. Trust me you will love that setup. I have been shooting the high FOC setup for about 1 1/2yrs now and I have never shot better. IMHO it is the way to go.

Forget speed? Please, that's still smokin'. That's gonna be like getting hit by a freight train.

I've shot heavy arrows for the last two years and I'm thinking about going lighter. I'm not totally sold on the idea of lighter arrows though. I've always got great arrow flight and excellent penetration out of my 500 grain arrows.

What are the details of your setup? That seems really fast for a 480 grain arrow! [:-]

When you've got the arms of a silverback and the strength of an ox, any bow is fast.

Seriously though, if you can get speed from a heavy setup like Don is, it's win win.

Don, some people would say your speed is "fast"

My arrows tip the scale around 480-490ish, havent chronoed it yet, should be low 270s though.

I love a heavy arrow. IDK why, but I am more confident with one....and they are alot more quiet.

Plus, who doesn't love the sound when it hits the target sounding like a NCAA fullback taking out a 3rd grader?

The best set up in my opinion for hunting is a heavier set up.

Mobow, I have been shooting that set up for hunting for the past 10 or 11 years with the exception of last year b/c I was in a hurry and couldn't find the weight tubes. I am looking at being around 500 gr. with 270 fps for this year, in the past I have noticed that the heavier arrows do fly better, the bow seems smootherand I never got into the blazer deal to start with.....I am with you on that subject!!!!

Yall can keep the WeightI like the smaller margin of error. So many things play into factor when taking a shot at a live animal, I'll take every little bit of help i can get. Plus the flatter trajectory and bragging rights that my bow is faster than yours[:-].

Besides with my stubby arms with that set-up I'd be lucky to get 240fps.lol[&:]
