Default Mature Bucks - Nocturnal...Camera Shy....

I posted this in another thread and it kind of took it off topic so i figured i would create another thread here.

Im sure some of you guys one here have seen these pictures already but this is a buck that i have been following for several years now and is certainly the oldes deer i have ever seen/hunted.

Enjoy! Feel free to share your stories/pictures of your mature bucks and your thoughts on some of the things we were talking about...

How many years have you seen or got pictures of that buck? He looks older than me,[] in deer years of course.
September 2005 (5.5-6.5) Look at his neck!

August 2006 (6.5-7.5)

January 2007

November 2007 (7.5-8.5) TANK!

My cousin even has his shed from one year....this picture above is the only picture i got of him all last year. I never saw him on stand. As a matter of fact, i have never seen him in the daylight since 2005....unbelievable deer. I would love to kill him!

Hell, id just be happy to get pictures of him again this year!

Great pics Mike!! That just goes to show how elusive and tough these 4.5+ bucks are to hunt or even get lucky enough to just see them. They are at another level when they get to this point in age.

If ever there was an answer to the question of are big bucks camera shy. Look at that bucks eyes in three of four pictures. He does not make that mistake very often does he?

That is a great buck Thanks for the pictures.

Thats a really good point actually...i have never had any evidence of this with any other buck besides this one...makes you wonder if he would have been around more often if i had infared cameras with no visible light...

My goal is to some day take a clean 5x5, 3 1/2 + and 125+. I've never gotten a clean 10 pointer. I've got plenty of 8s though and this one I just couldn't pass up. This is one of 3 bucks that I was targeting in 2006. I figured him to be at least 5 1/2, look at that body! The pic was taken from my stand on Oct 17th, 2006. I had a shot at him on Nov 11th and missed! [:-][&o][][:@]

He is quite symetrical with very few deductions and looks close to 150 net as an 8 pointer. I didn't see him last year which is common for some ofthe older bucks in my area, but I think he may reappear. I hope so, he should be about 7 1/2 and a real beauty even though he's "only" an 8!!

Never seen this guy from stand.....and have no idea if he's still around.

I peg him at at least 3.5 in this photo from 2007.

Man that is a tank of a buck. I wish you luck in getting on him, however I believe you are the trail of a ghost. They don't get that big by being stupid and this buck sure appears to have figured us (hunters) out. A nice harvest picture sure would go great with the trail cam pictures!

Well as you can see, he is certainly on his way DOWN hill....not so sure he wont be a heavy spike buck this year!

You said you'd kill him Michael....and I would to (given the chance).

Would the fact that he's this mature be the ONLY reason you needed? Just curious.
