Default removing the bladder

The tarsal gland thread brought back another mermoy for me,I knew a guy who would remove the bladder from a harvested deer and cut the tarsal glands off and empty the bladder into an old ice cream bucket with the tarsal galands and put a lid on the buckect and place it in his hunting area when hunting and simply open the lid on the bucket, has anyone ever done something similar to this? and if so did you have any luck.He swore by it.

Default RE: removing the bladder

I've never done that, kept inproperly the urine that was collected will turn quickly and become ineffective in fact, likely could work opposite by spooking game. Urine and scents are a tricky business as they can be very effective but like I mentioned, used improperly and you could blow an opportunity of a lifetime. I've had scents work, but I've also seen scents I put out turn doe inside out when they whiffed. That concern alone keeps me away from scents, urines and I try to go about it as scentless as possible.
