Default Who does your work???

I am just wondering how many of you take your bow's to a pro shop, or do your on work own your bow? If you take your bow to someone else to have it worked on, why?
If you do it yourself, why?
I do 90% of my own work on my bow's after getting the run around a couple times many years ago. So, I learned allI could about working on all my own bows, I felt that after being misguided a few times it was time to take care of my own equipment. Let's hear your story....

I take it to a proshop, called Bowie Outfitters. It's expensive as all get out, but anything that requires a bowpress, I am clueless!

Unless the job requires a bow press, I do it.

My buddy runs a shop.....and I go there if I need to press it.

Otherwise....I do it myself. Take this with a grain of salt, though. I've never replaced a string, cam, limb, etc....

I basically can set up a new bow....and that's about it.

Do my own plus several others. I used to be a proshop owner.
I hate to hear of others being mislead. That is not good. I suggest you learn all you can about the technical side of the compound bow but still, some things are best left to those doing it every day.

Be glad to answer any ???'s I can, however, I haven't worked on some of the newest Bowtech's or PSE's yet.

Default RE: Who does your work???

I just recently bought new bowtech's and am still learning how to work on them, when I take it to the shop I go back with the guy and learn anything I can that he does ie: I changed modules and strings on one....I found out that both bows were real easy to work, they don't even need a press to change any of the modules or strings...Pretty neat IMO....

When I first started getting serious I shot for a couple different shops that allowed me access to all their equipment and thats how I learned to work on mine. Now I have a place with some land and a barn and I have pretty much all I need to work on my bow except a chrono, thats coming....

My pro-shop is within walking distance........a sweet place called "Downstairs Archery"

I built a sweet 8X10' 43" high workbench complete with 5 outlets, cable (TV is out of sight to the right), shop lights, ceiling fan/light,10 bow floor rack, press, arrow saw, fletching and cresting equipment, scales, and virtually any tool I need to tune, strip or clean everything from my target bow to my AR-15.

Supporting a good pro-shop is a great thing but man having full independence isn't so bad either.
