I can't tell you how many timesw I've been spooked by a loud screech owl, or kicking up a woodcock/snipe in the swamp before daylight.

Only had one.

'05 season I got off work early and got up a tree. "Something" didn't feel right (I was in my climber). Something told me to get down.....and I did.

I moved 200yds to a lock-on I had set.....and climbed up. Same feeling. I sat there about a minute and climbed down and walked home.

Can't explain it.....but I havent felt it since. If I ever do, again, I'll do the same thing.

I did get "pelleted" in the woods by a squirrel hunter before.
I wasn't really scared though, more pissed off if anything.

Walking to the stand at 4:00 AM and having a bobcat scream about 50' in front of me. Walked back home and changed my boxers and went out again. That there my friends will scare the life right out ofyou when you are not expecting it. Earlier this spring I saw a young cougar by one of my stands. This year, I will walk to the stand with night vision and then leave the night vision monocular about 50' from the stand because if you get caught with one here while deer hunting, you're in deep kimchee.

My two most nervous events happened while I was checking traps. The first one was when I was about 14, I was walking along a strip of woods/brush with grassy areas on either side. I saw a guy in camo on the other side of the brush and kept an eye on him. He was just standing there, stock still. As I approached a little open spot between him and me, I saw him move. I realized he had drawn his recurve bow back and was about to shoot me. I jumped back and yelled 'Person here!'. He let down and was very shaken. He gibbered on about how he almost shot and that I shouldn't be walking around in the woods. (yeah, it would be my fault.)

My second was when I stumbled upon a guy pleasuring himself out in the woods. That in itself was bad enough. However, instead of him leaving, he tried following me around and making small talk. Since I was muskrat trapping, I waded out into the lake where he couldn't/wouldn't follow. I was worried I might need to take him out with a 110 conibear. []
