Yeah I'm pretty sure that's 15 deer per sq mile of habitat that supports deer........in Pa they call it "Per Forested Squre mile"
Trust me the big buck thing in low deer density areas here doesn't fly.
Our big woods sections of PA have some unbelievably low deer densitites. Where my camp is for example in WMU 2G in Clinton Co. we have a touch over 6 deer per FORESTED sq. Mile.
Roll that number around in your head once. Where you might have 15-20 or more deer per sq mile of habitat in farm country where deer are squeezed into a much smaller usable acerage, we have areas in PA that have 6 lonely arse deer wandering around 660ish acres of forest. LOL And that AINT the habitat where the majority of the big bucks are found.
Of course we have the other end of the spectrum too in heavily populated suburban areas with densisties over 30 deer per sq mile and more.
I wouldn't even want to think about what the densities are in places like the Adirondacks in NY.
