I've hunted in a view back yards because that's where the deer were, kinda makes sense doesn't it. No use hunting 500 yards from a building when the deer are moving through 150 feet from the building. As far as exact yardage or feet, don't know for sure, I was however in the woods in the backyards. I had to laugh the one time when the owners let the dog out, a little ankle bitter came up through the woods pissing on trees, saw a doe that was about 40 yards from me, ran up barked at the doe, the doe stood there laughing at him and the dog went back to the house. Very funny. If I remember right, the little mute even pissed on the tree I was in. LOL
No doubt hunting where the deer are is a smart tactic.

I dont mind saying.....this was in my woods. It's a 5 acre woodlot that backs up to three houses.....and afronts the parks system and an uninhabited area of over 2 sq. miles. It's a man-made breakline that just happens to coincide with their bedding area AND the best little transition area/funnel I've ever had the pleasure to hunt.
We're about <200yds from the homes in this spot.
That same dog came out and barked just before Frank shot the big doe he took, here, last fall.
It's the closest I get to a structure.....other than a horse barn that's in a pasture I hunt the outskirts of (no horses in there).....and my honey hole is about 1/3 mi. from the nearest structure (can't see anything but woods, from there). I hunt a strip of land about 500yds wide at its deepest....and it can narrow to less than 100yds where I hunt an adjacent road. Sometimes I set up inside 100yds, also, there....as Rob can also attest (though I've never taken a deer from this spot). This entire strip of land is 1 mi. in length....and I have exclusive rights to it. I'm damned lucky to be the only one hunting it.
My new land is 150 acres of mostly woods....where I'll be hard-pressed to see a structure.
The family land I just got access to is .5 mi off of any paved road.....and I will NOT see a structure while hunting it.
While hunting with Rob in PA....I could see a trailer park from stand in his MOST productive spot (food plot stands). I'm with him. I hunt where they are.
