I'm a member of the HNI hunting club. The guys I hang with there are mostly bowhunters, which is great because I bowhunt exclusively. It's a really great place to meet other hunters, young and old, from all over!!

I am a member of a hunting club and have a super time. I bow hunt it before gun season as I am the only one that bowhunts. We have 8 members which only 4 actually hunts regular.Got an area set adide for those that wish to camp and usually every Fridayor Saturday some one is always cooking something for a big chow down. We've never had any trouble with members behavior and one of the coolest guys is 74 years old and don't hunt anymore due to health but is full of good stories and lots of outdoor knowledge.

Who is a member of a hunting club ?
I am.

With what weapon do you hunt club property ?
For deer.... bow.

For turkey.... shotgun.

For doves...shotgun.

For ducks.....shotgun.

Why are you a member- Place to hunt ? Comradery ? New to the area at the time, good way to meet people ?
Place to hunt mainly. Unless you are a landowner or rich most folks can't afford a decent size chunk of land to lease themselves... if you don't form a club then a club will come and lease it out from under you.

Quite often, its a good way to access more property than you would normally be able to afford on your own. A lot of times they will have a club house with all the basic facilities (shower, bed, storage, heat, etc) so that can save you a commute (which is 70 miles each way for me). Most of the clubs in SE VA are geared towards hunting deer with hounds and shooting buckshot.... and thats all a lot of the guys care about.... so if you are a bowhunter you can often have 1000 or quite often more acres to yourself or just you and a couple other folks. Same goes for turkeys or ducks. I know a few folks that join such clubs JUST to turkey hunt there. And most of the members are glad to have them because its more money for the club and one less person to perhaps shoot a big deer... save more for themselves I guess! And lastly, yes there can be some good fellowship and friendships developed. The club me and Rebecca are in is really more of just a lease now... cause we are really the only ones who ever use it. Its great.

I was when I lived in Georgia. I belonged to 3 there. I may be joining one here but not sure yet. This gun club is thinking of taking on 3 bowhunters to help with their lease cost. We wouldn't beable to hunt during gun and muzzleloader season but would have the woods to ourselves for bow season.

In Texas you almost need to lease. I'm on the "Attoyac Hunting Club" in East Texas. It's a family hunting lease, year round. About 15000 ac. spread out over about 20 miles. Most people hunt hogs, with dogs, about 50 gun hunt, and the reason I like it is only about 8 people bow hunt. Most are in there 40's to 60 es. and were getting a lot of young people interested. Most hunt the first two weekends of gun, then the rest of us have the place too ourselfs. No dog running during hunting season! We have a lot of old time partys for our kids and kids in the area, all payed for by the club. Hay rides, apple bobbin, pie throwing contests, sackraces etc. We also put on a great spook night in Oct.for all kids, we have had over 100 outside kids attend, teens and scared the crap out of them also. Year round lease and a lot of roads to ride 4-wheelers, easy to put on 100 miles just riding on a weekend.
Sorry for being so windy!!

My lease is actually called a hunt club (coleman field hunt club) No clubhouse though, just some of us local guys/friends that live around the boundries of it. We do show up at each others houses to shoot the bull and what not. We try to improve the ground we hunt on and keep up with maintenance, im mostly a bowhunter but we have a mix of both. great bunch of guys to hang out with.

I am a member of a 1200 acre club in GA. I bowhunt, muzzleloader hunt and rifle hunt. I'm a member of a club primarily to have consistant access but also so I can take my 7 yr old with me in a relatively safe environment.

I also have a 750 acre lease in S. Illinois. A group of us GA and AL hunters got together and leased it. It saves us money and we can hunt our way. It is mostly bowhunting but a few of us will be doing shotgun and muzzleloader.
