Well, after much research, lots of shooting, deliberation & then more shooting- I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a new bow this weekend. I had it narrowed down to a MathewsDXT or Switchback XT and was at an impasse with my decision for about 3 weeks. I knew this bow would be one that was going to have to last me a while as my oldest son will be the next one to require the big "cha-ching" when I have to again de-weld my wallet and breakdown to buy him his first real hunting bow.
So....... after a bunch of sleepless nights spent thinking about "which one", I finally decided on the Switchback XT based on what I felt was just a smoother draw cycle. The DXT is a tad faster & has a tad shorter ATA, but I just felt the SBXT felt better in my hands & provided a more stable shooting platform. Both bows are super quiet and the SBXT imho, had a little less handshock than the DXT. Now here's the cool part- I really went ape$h!+ and bought myself an AimPointCompC3 Red-Dot sight! This sight is 7 ounces and absolutely a thing to behold with it's:
[ul][*]2 MOA Red-Dot[*]10 position Rheostat[*]anodized brushed black 30mm aluminum housing[*]3V Lithium Battery w/50,000 hour life[*]Parallax free at all engagement ranges[*]Unlimited Eye Relief[*]Anti-reflection coating on all surfaces[/ul]
I wont need a peep sight- only a kisser button in order to establish a consistent anchor. Also, no peep tube- so even more weight off my string! I'm going with a very simple, no moving parts, APA Ultimate rest (prong style). I'm taking off the Mathews grip and getting a Jager grip and finishing it off with a MeanV CSS.
I go on vacation next week & by the time I return- the bow will be set up and ready to be picked up at my bowsmith. The only thingleft for me to get now is a two bow, FAA-approved, bow case so I can take this bow & my Outback out to Nebraska this November!
I really like the start of my summer.............

I can tell you....I shot all the bows you did. If I had narowed my choice down to one of those mentioned......I'd have made the same decision. It's a FINE shooter.
Congrats on the new bow! Now all you have left to do is kill 'em dead. Tell me more about this sight. I have never seen such a monster ...ever. How do you mount it and how does it work. I am very interested so let me know.
