I used to never miss an opening day, but whether I hunt the IL. whitetail woods in Oct. before my NE Mule Deer hunt is a toss up. I prefer to wait until things are going full bore (rut) Then hunt the Bucks where the early season guys have pushed them. I may get out and whack a doe or 2, but it won't be in one of my prime spots.
Once I do start hunting I hunt hard. Most days I'll be in a tree from daylight until dark.
