Default Concerned about my favorite bow tested.

As I told some of you I finally had a chance to go shoot some bows today and here is my impression, and for those of you that did not read my other thread I am a complete novice and had questions on what to look for. I shot a Reflex (dont remember model but was upper end), Bowtech Allegiance, Diamond Black Ice, and Matthews DXT. My favorite to least goes in the following order 1-Allegiance 07' model 2-Matthews 3-Diamond Black Ice (actually tied with second if it was not for the grip 4-A distant last was the reflex (thought too bulky, not smooth, too heavy and louder than the rest). My concern is that it seems as though the allegiance is a little tippy left to right when fullly drawn with an open grip. the bulkier Matthews grip was the most comfortable. The speed, balance, smooth draw and feel other than the tippiness on the Allegiance still made it my favorite though. Can the grips be changed out or should I steer clear. By the way the price was 599.00 for the 07 model and with a little checking that seemed pretty fair.

Never shot any of those but the Black Ice and I enjoy it...but all my bows are Bowtech products so I wouldn't know otherwise.

What didn't you like about the grip?

the matthews grip is the one thing I allways wanted to get rid of in favor of a torquless grip or similar. It allways got slick durring range shooting situations.

the grip seemed a little thin (I was told this is the popular thing on the newer bows) to where it caused me to wobble or move a little easy left to right where as the bulky matthews tended to fill my palm better. I am probably just being paranoid,as my really old bow had a wide grip and that is what I am used to. But I tell you everything else made me smile, bows have come a long way even in the eyes of a novice judge. Not to mention the guy helping me was of no help (my big box fear coming true). It actually torques me off because I think that is a good price and I would not mind saving some money on an 07 but I would not trust those tards to set up a bow.

I had an old Browning that had a huge grip on it. When I went to my Commander, it was an adjustment, but it made me see just how much I was death gripping the bow and throwing my shot off. Also, it made me find a better anchor point and made me a better shot.

And if it's a good price, buy it and take it elsewhere to get it set up. Other pro shops will do the work, you may have to pay for it, but it may be worth it depending on how good of a buy it is.

Buy the Allie

It has got to be one of the top 5 bows ever made.

The skinny grip takes about a week to get used to.

It really is a better way to go than the big ones.

IMHO

I don't think it is anything to be concerned with.

Hey thank you all for the input, have another question. I was navigating through the huntingfriend website and they have a "forgiveness" scale with the top bow rating 112 and the lowest was a 64 with the allegiance being a 76; is this too unforgiving for a beginner that cannot shoot every day.

Once again I don't think it's anything to be worried about.
