Take a field point heat it up, once hot screw in it your arrow with some pliers. This will warm up the glue and twist the insert out! Just make sure you heat up the field point when its not it the arrow. I heat mine up on a burner on the stove! Works great for me with out any damage to my arrows!

You don't need to get the field tips red hot, just warm enough to get the glue warm. I don't let it sit in the arrow long enough to do damage. Screw it in and twist until its loose.
Why are you taking the inserts out???

Because the ends of a couple of my arrows arent square, and my arrows have the HIT inserts. So I need to take them out and square them up and then reinsert them.
If HIT inserts are aluminum you may be able to just square them off with the G5 ASD (arrow squaring device). I use it to square off my shafts and then, after putting in my inserts, I square them off too. I also use it to square off the nock end. Great tool, very useful and very worth the money because it does work and make a difference.
