Default Days to take off this year............*poll added*

The vacation thread got me thinking.......................

So I have a full 5 days of vacation I have saved this year specifically for archery season. This year PGC has bumped the closing week of PA archery season out a week from normal, our season now extends to 11/15 which is the same weekend things close in NY.

Traditionally Dan (Jawshooter) and I take off the week of 11/2 for a 9 day trip that we split between his place in NY and mine in PA, but now I am wondering if I should take off the week of 11/9 instead. Keep in mind pressure on both properties is really low (pretty much just us), so I don't have to worry about someone else educating them if we wait a week.

What week would you guys take off in the Northeast? 11/2 or 11/9? Why? Does this week tend to be the week you guys see bucks locked down with does or do you see a lot of activity? I've never spent a lot of time in the woods this particular week and am curious what you guys think............

1st week--I have consistently seen more bucks cruising from November 5th-10th than any other time.

I've got 5 weeks paid vacation to take (mandatory here) so Im off to Northern MS to bowhunt on the 15th of October for 2 weeks. I wonder if i'll get any big bucks??

I hope so or it'll be a semi wasted journey.

I know things can change from year to year due to various conditions but based on my sightingslast year I would go withthe week of the second. I cover all the bases though by taking off from 10/29 thru the end of the season. Ken

Matt,

If our weather/season plays out like it did last year, I would shoot for the second week. Our season ended just too early last year based on the activity I saw. I saw/had more bucks near range in the last week last year, and the activity was just starting to pick up. The day after the season closed I had a real nice 6-point, nose to the ground, run straight toward me in an open field, with no cover between us, and he never saw me until he got about 20 yds away...guess what was on his mind?

Week of Nov. 2. The 3rd - the 9th, at least around here, is the hottest time. I personally took off each Monday in October, then I'm off from Nov. 5-14. I cannot wait!
