Default Today's fight: Have you ever hunted an area where...

Have you ever hunted in an area where you weren't necessarily *supposed* to be?

Examples would be:
[ul][*]Hunting on somebody else's private ground - you've never asked, but you've never been told to keep out;[*]Hunting random property that you are unsure of the owner or status;[*]Hunting an area where the landowner has already told you to stay away;[*]Hunting a piece of property at a time when you're not supposed to be there (i.e. gun hunting when you only have expresspermission for archery);[*]Hunting on state/township/county/municipal land where you're not exactly sure if it's kosher or not. But you just hunt anyway;[*]Blatantly trespassing - just walking right through the Posted signs and never looking back;[*]Takinga family member/friend into a piece of property when you know that you're the only one supposed to be in there; or[*]Knowingly violating the landowner's management objectives.[/ul]

Please know that you can be honest here. The FBI won't be hunting you down if you answer "Yes" - and we promise not to turn you in for cheating on your taxes or checking out the assets on the hot new girl at work.

Nope- I have always respected the priviledges I have. I always make sure property owners are ok with me bringing a friend.

I have caught people on property I was hunting and made sure they left and reported the incidents. I have put stands right on property lines to make a point before and took a buck that was less than ten feet inside the property I had permission while another hunter watched from 30 yards across the property line, that ended up in a great argument and set of accusations against me trespassing when I shot it.

I hunta few thousandacres of coal company ground. No fences, lots of parking... Now, I've never been given express permission to be in there by anyone with actual binding authority on behalf of the ownership. With that said, I sure don't see any Posted signs. Most importantly, I've never been told "no."

From my research, the places are jointly-owned by several different coal companies and land management cooperatives, and are a maze of easements, subsurface rights and leases. Obtaining permission would be completely impractical, and would probably require about 8 months of wading through red tape.

So I just skip the bullchit and hunt there. Until somebody stopshim, the Kingwill continue to rock on.

His majesty seesthe guys working the wells. They see me. I wave. They wave. Maybe they're just nice because of . . . you know . . . "who I am." (obviously). But either way,we both move on with our lives without incident or confrontation. So I presume it's kosher.

Maybe it's just the culture here in SW PA - but that's the way we've always done it. Unless it's posted, or somebody tells you "no," you presume it's okay - and you hunt.

I hunt several parcels where I couldn't even begin to tell you who owns the place. That's Pennsylvania "semi-public" hunting in its purest form.

Guilty. I hunted a field for turkey a few years ago.....This guy has always let us huntthere, he just wanted us to call and let him know we would be there. Well, in all honesty, I did TRY to call him the evening before, but he wasn't home and didn't return my call. So.....I went. Shot a big ole gobbler w/ my bow that morning, and he was hunting the field. Saw the whole thing. He wasn't happy about it, and re-emphasized the need to call first.

I haven't hunted it since, and not because he won't let me. I've just not asked.

I have never just blatantly disregarded posted signs and hunted anyway.

I've got a little turkey hunting spot that I don't have expressed permission to be on. The land abutts my father in law's land....and the landowners have always let him hunt there in the past. They also live in FL....and have been neighbors with my father in law for 40 years (adjacent landowners).

He says they don't mind....and I take his word for it.

That's as far as I go.

[ul][*]Hunting on somebody else's private ground - you've never asked, but you've never been told to keep out;[*]SEE ABOVE
[*]Hunting random property that you are unsure of the owner or status;[*]NO
[*]Hunting an area where the landowner has already told you to stay away;[*]NO[*]Hunting a piece of property at a time when you're not supposed to be there (i.e. gun hunting when you only have expresspermission for archery);[*]NO[*]Hunting on state/township/county/municipal land where you're not exactly sure if it's kosher or not. But you just hunt anyway;[*]NO. But I hunt right on top of it.
[*]Blatantly trespassing - just walking right through the Posted signs and never looking back;[*]NO[*]Takinga family member/friend into a piece of property when you know that you're the only one supposed to be in there; or[*]NO. Ask Frank and Rob....lol. I can't take anyone into my honey hole woods.....[*][*]Knowingly violating the landowner's management objectives.[*]NO[/ul]

I have hunted on land that I don't have permission to hunt on but there were no posted signs and I don't even know who the land owner is and also I hunted about 1 yard into the property because I was hunting a field..
