Default Arrow Sizing Chart Question ???

I just had a quick arrow sizing chart question. When they list the arrow length in inches, that represents the bare shaft only correct? Or do they include the nock in that measurement as well?

Near as I can figure it's from the groove in the nock. If your buying some I'd ask first.

nodog is correct. The standard way is to measure from the deepest part of the nock groove to the end of the shaft. This is the AMO standard. Of course, not everybody adheres to this when cutting shafts so it's wise to state such when and if you order shafts/arrows.

Thanks guys. One more quick question for you. If you happen to fall in that gray area of being between two different spines (say 400 to 340) which is usually better to go with (heavier or lighter)?
