Default Turkeys are done in south central OK

I don't know about you guys, but my Tom's have apparently had all the "action" they could handle. They aren't gobbling on or off the roost, I haven't heard a bird in over a week and I've been out plenty. I've seen a lot of birds but nothing is happening, the big boys aren't interested in the women anymore. Our season ends on 5/6 so I guess I'll try to get out before season ends... then it's time for the .243 to protect the "baby turkeys."

I did put my dad on a couple of birds this morning with the spot and stalk method and he got the job done. Another great hunt with the pops and a pretty good way to slow down the season.

Mine are still gobblin plenty, they just will not come to decoys or calling. I am taking my buddy along in the morning and he is gonna stay outside of the blind and move around behind me and try to entice one in by sounding farther away.

Hmmm... I've tried a variation of that technique. I stick my my slate out a hole in the blind behind me in an attempt to sound like a hen moving away. I'm still not sure whether it worked or not

Once they get off the roost they dont make a sound, here. I hunted yesterdy morning until 12:30, and the only gobbles I heard after flydown was because there were some crows going nuts in the trees around them.

Yes, school could wait

Most of the kids in my shcool were at the state track meet in Norman. I didnt think they would notice if I was gone, too.

Wow am I glad to hear it is not just here in Michigan, our birds are gobbling there heads off and then when they fly down nothing!! We actually worked a bird Sat. morning that was by himself and he wouldn't even come I thought Iwas calling I am gay or something!! This morning we had them talking for about an hour but they wouldn't budge and then two hens walked right by us to the toms and bam lock jaw!!!
