Default The Passion of Crow Hunting

I know this is a bow sight for us guys and girls but.....seriously....

The sun comes up...you got the Johnny Stewart running the crow frenzy....

The gerrring sound of crows come over the top of you in V-formation and you open up with your 12 gauge like a freakin maniac....

I Frigggggin love crow hunting....it rushes through me like a 38 inch carp on the bow reel, like a snap of a branch on opening day of bow....like a 12 inch gobbler in full strut...

Crows....dummer then a stump in the city....as smart as a Turkey when yer in their territory....

A great mid season release....

Everytime I ever went out for them, the darned things would stay just out of range. We have several fly zones on our property, however, and with the right decoy setup, and proper camo, I bet I could take a few down. I found myself chasing them as a mid-year filler as well. Tons of fun, but I like all scattergun bird/small game hunting.

I have not crow hunted for years. But I still have 3 dozen crow decoys, two owl dekes, and that old johnny stewart tape player.

I remember the key to putting a bunch of them on the ground is this........the scout crows come in first. No matter how close they get, and how tempted you are.........let them check out the setup and leave. They may never come back, but if they do return, they will have a BUNCH of their buddies with them! Once they get it in their mid that the setup is real, many times you can unload that scattergun, and reload for round # 2 before they pull out completely.

Spent many a day burning up shells on those buggers back 25 years ago.

Hensler..thats awesome!...The birds you're hunting may be seeing you walking out.... or they are a little gun shy....if you set up in camo at the crack of dawn....you will have birds in your lap....

they tend to sit offin the distance and laugh if they see you....if you get set up and birds do not know your location....they will come....in full force..

I got a Goose wrapped up in my string and fish arrow once...it was hell when that honker got about 100 feet in the air with my glass arrow, retreiver and string all caught up in its wing...it was a sight to see......She flew off with no issues...just scared a bit[8D]

I would... Use to hunt a pecan grove years ago. I got to where I could call them in by mouth. We would sit in the bushes let the scouts come and go, then let 30-40 come in and land then BOOM. Several times we got to empty our guns twice on one group.

I dont know about all the passion talk but I sure do love crow hunting. We hit it hard every year. Not much ofa flyway around here so it is all run and gun....burnin gas. Can make a solid 10 setups in one morning this way. The setup is over if you dont take out that dang first bird though, that is for sure.

We hit the crows hard this year, it was a decent winter. Ducks, Doves, and Crows are all really fun to hunt as far as wingshooting goes.
