I don't own a viper but own a darton mustang-1994 they were made in the early to mid 90's. My friend owns the viper probably a 1993-1994 model. he still uses it till this day he sees no reason to buy a new bow. i just got back into bow hunting in 2006 and used my mustang but decided to get a new one for 2007. i bought a ross 337 great bow but I realized that once I put fiber optic sights, new peep, rest and newarrows for the mustangI wondered why i bought my ross. Then again i am still wondering why i purchased an excalibur phoenix crossbow 4 months ago even though you can't hunt with them in NYS.

Been shooting Darton since mid 70s. Have one that is 18 years old & works just fine. Newer is 4 years old.

I have been shooting the Darton's for 12 years now and they are good bows, I have several and they all are still wonderful bows, I just bought a new commander and my old maverick that is 6 years old still puts out the same numbers as the new commander, however the commander is a bit quieter and smoother, other than that the speed and KE are the same....
