I have three properties I hunt that are private but I do go out of state or hunt public in southern Illinois. I live in a county where our forest preserves are overun with deer yet there is no hunting for population control.

im probably about equal...spend a fair amount of time on game lands and such and a fair amount of time on private land...but...pretty much all my private land can be hunted by anyone...
size varies from a 5 or 10 acre private apple orchard to small woodlots and farmland to 10,000+ acre gamelands....

Things are a lot different here in the south. We have hunting clubs. Its very rare that you find one man that can afford the lease of land by himself. We can thank the timber companies for that. SC has some of the highest land lease prices in the US. Again, thank the timber companies for that.
SC has some of the best low pressured public land in the south east. and i hope it stays that way with lease prices as high as $45 an arce.
In California & Arizona, it's all mainly public, some private in Central & northern California, about 90% of my hunting is public, the other 10% is for hogs on private land.
