Default Meijer Supporting Anti-Hunting Movement with Photo Contest

http://www.huntingnet.com/news/news_detail.aspx?news_id=728

I love how their response was that even though they were giving the money to the HSUS it was going to be used for things other than funding their anti-hunting campaign. Great logic.

EDIT - Link to Meijer's site that details how money will be donated to the HSUS.

"Foreclosure Pets Fund, which funds animal shelters, non-sheltered rescue/adoption groups and animal care and control programs for families caring for their pets during the current economic crisis."

I recognized this a while ago, there will be more ferrel pets running in the woods. How many arrows can a guy get off at a pack ofattacking dogs much less ones moving quickly? I never practise shooting moving game.

These groups are making us out to be the bad guys. I think it's time they live with the animals they love. I could save a pile of cash by not hunting for a season or two, then they'll scream and run these groups out on a rail. The governments would crap if hunters went on strike.

How about these dogs and there noy really ferrel yet.

I just filed a complaint with Meijers and did so in a tasteful manner. Funny that a company doing business in a few states is funneling money into a national organization! I and my friends have purchased a lot of hunting stands and clothes from their stores in the past not to mention the wifey going there once a week for household stuff and groceries. I am forwarding this info to all my hunting buddies, luckily a few work for at&t and some other large companies.

I will add Meijer on the list with Wal Mart!!

Here is the reply from Meiers on the photo contest and HSUS.

Hello Jason,
Thank you for coming by the site and taking the time to write us
regarding information on the pet photo contest donations.
The money being directed to The Humane Society of the United States is
for their new Foreclosure Pets Fund, which is a grants program for
animal shelters, non-sheltered rescue/adoption groups and animal care and
control agencies to help establish, expand, or publicize services or
programs that assist families in caring for their pets during the current
economic crisis.
None of the funds will be used by The HSUS"”the money is exclusively
for grants to local groups. Meijer is proud to be able to help keep pets
with their families.

I for one will be boycotting this store going forward, what a joke.
