Ohio one can shoot 3 turkeys in a season and 1 deer
In KY one can shoot 6 turkeys in a season and 1 deer

How many SEASONS have you/the forum pursued each?

How many do you have to your credit?

Me....

3 season, deer......connected 2/3 seasons on antlered deer

2 seasons, turkeys......connected 1/2 (so far)

If I was pressed to bet on whether or not I would kill an antlered deer this year......I wouldn't bet against me. I wouldn't make that same statement on turkeys.

anter restrictions saved me from shooting bucks that were legal(someone else killed them down the line and i found out they WERE legal...)

and yearly i pass jakes and passed many shots at turkeys...could have filled my spring turkey tag every year if i pulled the trigger

(dont count me though...only 1 of the 6 were bow kills )

I do think its tougher IMO to kill a gobbler than a buck. Might have something to do with having a 3 month deer season vs 1 weekend per year for turkeys.

Are you talking anybuck or mature bucks Jeff? I have actually turkey hunted seriously one time in my life and I killed a 21lb Tom with a 10 inch beard.

I killed it at 17 yards, I wason the ground....not in a blind and my father was with me. IMO that is no easier that doing it with a bow in a blind.

So for mature Tom's I am 1 for 1. If I had that kind of ratio with Mature bucks, I'd have my own TV show!

Honestly I am sure it depends on who what when and where. Killing a Turkey around here is not a big deal to most. The people that do it seriously kill mature birds every year......I know, I know.............it's not with a bow, but that is another argument all together.

LT.....though I may not choose to.....I DO live in a target rich environment. If I wanted to kill "just" an antlered deer......like I said....I wouldn't bet against me. That's not being cocky....that's recognizing the fact that I have a LOT of deer where I hunt. Nothing more.
