...to post a "rage" thread. Gee I hope this doesn't go 15 pages of..well you know. I know a few people in MN who use Rage to shoot deer in MN, however upon some research, I think they may be illegal to use in MN. Has anyone heard the term "barbed" broadhead?

Any broadhead with the blades that stay pointed more than 45 degrees backwards (or whatever degree they use)= "Barbed" just like a fishhook & MN DNR does not allow them!

I would check with a local GCO on this because PA has a similar law and both Tekans and Rages are legal. The reason being is that while they fit the definition of having blades at an angle, they do not lock in that position so if the arrow were to be pulled backward the blades would move back forward no longer being barbed. It sounds like you have a law very similar to ours. Check it out and see what they say. You can't go by what you hear on the Internet, that's for certain.
NY has the same restriction and the 3 blade Rage has been deemed illegal to use. The 2 blade rage however folds forward well beyond that 45 degree angle so it's all good.

In that thread I posted, and one of the quotes it was actually from a CO officer in Minnesta. But he also stated this:

But, you say that they WON'T lock, thus making them legal.
Sounds to me like a poor written law, and a very grey area!

That's interesting, and you're absolutely correct. There is a lot of grey area there.
If you reply to the CO, please let him know that he could easily test them without being in danger of cutting himself by pushing up on the tip of the blade and the dull side would pivot forward.

Aren't the rages actually bigger then that when there expanding? I thought I've read that in a few Rage threads on here from a few different folks.
Not to be a smart ass, but isnt there that unwritten law that if its questionable then you probably shouldnt use it?? Not trying to knock anyone, just sayin..
