Default QUESTION FOR THE BIG GUYS

I have been trying to find a treestand rated at 350lbs or more for a friend of mine...it must be a lock on...he used a stand last season rated for 300lb,,he is a little bigger than that...so I'm looking for something a little safer this season for him...any ideas? and weight loss is not an option for him!

Tell him to do like me and keep his big arse on the ground. Tree climbing is for squirrels and monkeys, not us guys who shop out of the King Size catalog. [8D]

Chippewa Treestands are THE SAFEST out there for the husky hunter. I haven't plunked down the money yet, but I have looked at them several times. The last time I was looking, I was on the platform sitting down and the owner got on with me, that's nearly 600 pounds of beef and the stand didn't even squeak. They rate their stands to "Any Human Hunter" Definitely worth a look!

Good call...I would have a comfortable chair nearby when you are reading the prices...so when you fall over, you don't get hurt. They are deifnitely expensive, but they are hand made here in the states (MI) and can customize to just about whatever you want. For me, I would get the Brutus Maximus with the tallest seat height, but I'm 6'10" so my seat height preference doesnot mirror many people!

I'm usually 285 during the season, but you also want to consider the weight of gear that you will be carrying up with you. That usually puts me at the limit (maybe beyond it) of my climber.

I've always considered a 300lb rated stand to be more than enough even though I tip the scales at 325lb. I figure there has to be at least a three X rating....sorta like elevators....at least I hope so.

I do add additional straps when hanging them, I like the stand to be secure to the tree, but as far asworrying about a stand rated for 300lbs holding up a little over that amount.... Idon't.

Bro I don't weigh but 220 but I love these stands, I have three of them and will buy 2 more before season
http://www.gametamers.com/tree-stand-30-p-2.html?cPath=cPath&zenid=7f99e845244f5fa7cedd0 43d6f95b393 If I remember correctly they are rated at 350, after sitting in this stand I don't want to hunt in anything else, extremely comfortable, quiet and I love the fact that they can be put on trees that aren't straight. I just set one up last week on a crazy tree down in a draw on a live spring....
