You could probably spend an afternoon reading my thoughts on Predator by using the terms "Predator" and my user name "Greg / MO" in the search engine...

To save you a bit of time, here's a couplethreads for you to quickly glance at if you're not wanting to put that much thought into it. The first one is showing my favorite of the company's offerings from the view of an animal as the hunter is in a treestand. It depends on how you plan on pursuing them: A lot of people who hunt around my camp actually hunt them much like whitetails, sitting up over water holes and established core areas.

This thread begins with a pic of one of the patterns viewed at ground level, and discusses many of the thoughts surrounding that.

I'm about to leave to take my oldest boy fishing, so I'll limit my viewpoints here; besides, I've written enough of them over the years. Basically, I prefer what I call the "classic" patterns -- those being the ones primarily conceptualized by Marc Barger when he was a major part of Predator. Those are Fall Brown, Fall Gray and Spring Green.

Fall Brown is a favorite of elk hunters everywhere, and can be bought from Gray Wolf (www.graywolfwoolens.com). For a nice blend of the strengths of Fall Brown and Fall Gray (which is comprised of a lighter background if purchased directly from Predator itself), you can order Gray Wolf's Fall Gray; it has more of a "neutral" background. If you're worried about human perception (which is in reality why so much time is spent discussing camo) and it's still pretty "greened up" outside, the Spring Green is a no-brainer.

I've worn it all in Colorado among the aspens. The Fall Gray looks great in the trees to human eyes... lots of contrasty big blocks to break up the human outline. If you'll click on that first link, you'll see they ALL look alike when turned to black and white... it just depends on how comfortable you are in your knowledge of that.

One last thing... though I've never been as big a fan of Deception, it's not a bad "Western" pattern. Good luck in your search and your hunting pursuits.

I really doubt color is a Biggie to the Elk. Predator is a great pattern choice. I have a set of Gray Wolf Woolens Wolfskin in Brown Predator that I haveused out west if hunting on the move from the ground

It works Awesome!!

Hunted Elk my whole life...never seen a camo pattern make an impact...Have hunted with guys who wore jeans and t-shirt from work shoot a monster bull...Have had bulls blow snot on me while bugling, while I was in week old hunting camp clothes...

The bigger/biggest issue is wind direction...

might sound obvious, but there is nothing more important, and yet easier to forget in the heat of the moment...

All this being said...and might seem obvious...have lots of buddies who use Predator camo...
