Default How much does wind affect flight?

17yardish shot with 15mph side wind. Using guillotines. I was right on the center of his neck. I shot when I got home and was dead on so nothing is wrong with my sights. Might have flinched but it felt like I did everything right.[&:]Oh yeah, MONSTEROUS bird that was going to destroy my B-mobile.[>:].

350 fps aprrox I think is what the guy at the shop said. Its set at 53 lbs and is a Parker Huntermag if this helps.

you are shooting 350 FPS with 53 pound bow?? I need to get a Parker. might want to have your bow guy check his chrono.

your ibo on that bow is 307. If you are shooting a 400 to 450 grain at 53 pounds set up with some gizmo's you are probably around 260 to 270 fps.

Maybe 250 fps with a 400 grain arrow.

The wind will push your arrow around how much depends on weight and FOC of the arrow.

The lower theweight and FOC the more wind drift you will incure.

Those big ol' wings (blades) on the Guillotines will catch wind a lot worse than a normal head, too. They recommend 20 yards max for those things even in good conditions. I wouldn't want to use 'em in a heavy breeze, especially in a crosswind.

If I did use them, I'd make up at least a 500 gn, high FOC arrow to carry them. But that's just me.
