Default HOw many is too many

My hunting spot is about 14 acres, I hunt out of ladder stands only, and I have 6 of them oout right now. I always think I need to get more. But I was just wonderig how many is too many on land this size?

Hard to say......

If you consider 2 stand placements per wind occurrence......it doesn't sound like you have too many. I have a 15 acre woodlot that I could see hanging 6 stands in fairly easily. I wish I had the guts or the money to trust my neighbors to do so.

Good luck.

It depends how bulky looking your ladder stands are. Personally I don't like them, I use a hang on for the reasons of it being less noticeable.

Too many would be one more than the number of trees on the property

hang enough stands so you can walk treeto tree on the stands.

Its not the number of stands. It's the amount of human interferance that is going to make the difference. I would suggest placing a few in strategic locations and not overhunting them. Lets face it 14 acres isn't much land. It won't take long for the deer to figure out your there.

I think GregH hunted a similarly sized woodlot 76 times a couple years ago. I could be mistaken......but I'm pretty sure on the number.....and less sure if it was the same woodlot.

If your not spooking the deer you can go back day after day, but once they notice you idhold back. Having 6 stands will help with not over hunting each one, but 14 acres isnt that much land and if they bust you on a couple stands they could easily re-route themselves around your peice of property.
