Default first shed!!

saturday night found myself at my 2nd coon hunting competition 60 or so miles south of home...one drop we we were walking through a small field/gas right of way surrounded by woods and i shined my light 50yds or so ahead of me and immediatley thought i spotted a shed..."crap! i thought to myself..that other kid 10yds away from it saw it in my light and will pick it up!" he walked right by it...hmm must not been a shed? i walked upto it just to make sure...glad i did! he must not deer hunt or take intrest in antlers...or just didnt wanna pick it up...i figured why not? at the very least if anyone says anything i will put it back, or if the judge/guide says something i will give it to him since he obviously has the permission to be there and take us there. noone said anything about it..the judge/guide looked at it and didnt say much...myself, i was pumped! first shed ever!! been walking the woods since i could walk and im 21! heck i rarely find deads let alone sheds..heres some pics..nothin special...figuring he is 2.5...

17" main beam..pretty neat and gnarly base and brow..g2 was over 4"...g3 obviously snapped off...aught have 5 on that side next year by the looks of it...aughta be a pretty nice one..

the deer we seen down there just made my jaw drop...it was utterly amazing...stopping every so often to let deer cross the roads...every field had about 10 deer in it...deer droppings were so thick in the woods that they were sticking to my boots!! amazing looking woods as well...awesome typical PA rolling hills...deep bowls and valleys and high ridges with awesome bottom lands...some of the hills were pretty steep...alot of the woods were thick...but it looked like hunters paradise...turkey scratchings everywhere as well...just beautiful woods...figuring access to the lands is pretty tough...and also figuring that most of the guys there are the sterotyped PA hunter...not wanting to walk up and down them steep long hills or hunt the thick stuff...i know i was cussing the hills and thick stuff going into the hounds a couple times...but dragging a big ole slammer up outta them would make me smile...talked to some guys down that way and they said thats exzactly the problems/causes of the deer herd being so healthy...

just wanted to show off my first shed! nothin special..but its MINE! lol...couldnt find the other side..didnt see it anywhere in the field...

thanx guys...now it got me wishin i had time/spots/knowledge to find more!! really wish the g3 wasnt broken and the other side was laying right there with it...i wanna find me a decint set of rattling antlers....one day i will...this time of year is trout fishing and turkey hunting...though, with the bad fishing conditions up until now, i should have been shed hunting...gas prices and that are keeping me in unless i have a good reason to be out...was waiting for decint fishing weather to do day trips of fishing, scouting for deer and turkeys and shed hunting and making a day of it...got 1 spot in mind i really do want to go shed hunt...maybe this weekend when im home...(where my buddy found that giant shed i posted a while back...)

just kinda neat to find sheds...they are all unique and have their own characteristics...i found out quick that my hunting grounds just dont hold enough bucks to make it worth while...i spent hours and hours and days and days searching before...enough time that i shoulda tripped on one or two! lol...talked to alot of guys that find 100 a year and they all say it takes areas that have high buck populations to do it...which would mean areas that arent hunted here in PA lol....

Congrats on the shed !! Your right... it takes a big area with good buck numbers to find a lot of sheds in a year. You will spend a lot of timelooking too.
