675 acres - New land 1/2 an hour from the house......
With the help of Jawshooter (thanks buddy!) we have landed 675 acres of land to bowhunt that is roughly 30 minutes from my place, and Dan's place is on the way to the property. The property gets hunted by 6-7 guys during rifle season, but no other bowhunters as far as we know. It's going to be a few weeks before we get down there to really scout it out, but I'm hoping to at least get tax maps, aerial photos, and topos in the next week or so to start looking it over. We will be headed down in a few weeks to do some chores for the owners (firewood) and to hopefully put in some shoe leather, maybe some glassing as well.I've never had exclusive bowhunting access to anything worth while that was within a days driving distance from my house, so I'm pretty pumped to say the least. With gas prices skyrocketing, it's going to be nice to not have to drive 4 hours each way every weekend just to get to my camp.
I'm hesitant to post a ton of location info on here because of previous experiences, but I will say that it's on an operating farm west of Albany. I'll post more as I get a chance to really check it out. I can see my strategies changing this year..........time to buy a super lightweight climber I think. We will still probably spend the majority of our time at my camp in PA and Dan's camp near Oneonta, but I think we will have at minimum a few weekends spent at this farm to help reduce the time spent away from home.
