280+ is a fast bowhunting setup in my eyes.

For Germ.....250fps

When they try to get to second base on the first shot.

Really, I think anything above 250 is plenty fast for a hunting bow, and could be less.

I second that, any bow that can shoot a 400 grain arrow at 300 + f/s is fast in my book.

anything over the 280's is very quick, but anything over 300 is cooking, that is with the right size arrow for hunting.

I don't know about that, becauseyou need to figure in arrow weight as well. Some archers shooting 300 grain arrowsor less think thatis plenty for elk and other big game.High Country is taken taken this approach, they are claiming super fast speeds over 350 f/s but yet the arrowsweigh less than 300 grains. Sure it might be fast but theydon'thave the kenitc energythat a heavier arrow has at slower speeds.Thats why I say a 400 grain arrow going 300 f/s is fast. For hunting I like a 450 to 500 grain arrow going around 270-280 f/s. With this along with a stong fixed blade broadhead, it will blow through a elk out to 50 yards all day long. My Drenalin 30" draw lenght, at 70-71 poundsshoots a 505 grain (total weight)Full Metal Jacket at 274 f/s. Thats fast enough for me while hunting. This same set up with a 400 grain arrow it spits it out at 301 f/s.

Personally I consider anything over 250 to be fast. Then again I am small. For an everage person I would say maybe 270 plus with over 60 lbs of draw weight and modern carbon arrows.

I personally don't shoot that fast, but if had a bow capable of faster speeds I would up my arrow weight until I leveled out around 250 fps or so. My set up will actually shoot around 270 or so if I use a light enough arrow, but I like heavier arrows and my speeds are closer to the 200-220 fps mark.

I agree with those that say, anything over 280fps is fast.

It really is.
