Best thing you can do is just get out there and look, had about 12 hours of walking around in the woods between sheds, figure about 2 miles per hour, so 24ish miles to find one shed, was quite the rush to find that little 4 point antler.

As to where to look? Find a bedding area, and where the deer are going to feed, and check all areas in between, if you have an area to look through (say a field) I will pick one edge and try to walk a straight line across it, then move over 10-20 yards over then walk back, repeat until the field is complete.

I did 3 corn fields like this over about 4 hours, found nothing, but feel pretty confident I don't have to look in this area again. I will be doing this in other areas once the snow is finally gone.

The down side of this is I did see a nice 9 pointer running around this weekend (2-3 year old) with both antlers still on his head. A neighbor/friend told me that he saw 2 bucks last nite with both antlers last night across the road from our property. So, I will probably be reworking those corn fields again. [:'(][:'(]

There is no rhyme or reason to where the deer will drop their antlers, but you can use their patterns in your favor by looking in areas you have seen deer or heavier deer sign.

Final thought, if you are in an area where there is heavy hunter pressure and the rule of thumb for the area is if you see a buck you shoot it, it will be hard going finding sheds, I am lucky enough to be in an area where QDM is being practiced, this has been going on for almost 20 years now, so there are alot of smaller sheds to find and we are starting to see more 2-3 year old sheds, with the occasional 4+ year olds around.

My dad found this one yesterday. (the little one is the one I found after 12 hours, in the middle of one of the roads on the property, hard to see like that )

The shed my dad found was found about a mile from our property along a railroad bed....since he didn't find it on the property I don't think he can use it to add to his shed count

I find a lot on the south side of hills, corn fields, bedding areas and along fences.
