yes sir!! a red tailed hawk nests in my honey hole...the first year i hunted there, i seen it regularly...dang near every evening it would fly from the right to left and its wing tips were within a REAL close distance of my face...must been its "flight path" or something. i felt the wind come from it many times...i love him! keeps the chipmunks in check!!! spent probably too much time watching him through the binocs!! but keeps me alert and actively watching...
watched him nail a bird out of the air..it was awesome. watching a bird that big fly though the woods just amazes me...let alone watching it kick in the after burners and clober a tweety bird right out of the sky...

I never had a owl come at me but I did have a hawk attack a squirrel about 10 feet above me while I was on stand. It wasunbelievable I only heard wings,I looked up andthe hawk just missed grabbing the squirrel.

Many times! I've heard there claws scratch my recurve too many times when raising it up to protect my face. Red tail Hawks, Great Grey Owls, Great Horned Owls, the list goes on. It sure does wake you up in a hurry when you hear them wing beats a coming!! Usually I'm half snoozed out when it happens.[8D]
WHILE IN TREE STANDS FOR BLACK BEAR IN SPRING HAVE HUMMINGBIRDS SCARE THE CRAP OUT OF ME NEARLY EVERY YEAR. THINK THEY ARE JUST PASSING BY THOU. HAD A HAWK COME STRAIGHT AFTER ME ONCE SAW IT COMING FROM A WAYS OFF IF I HAD NOT STOOD AND WAVED THINK IT MIGHT HAVE TRIED TO TUG ON MY BEARD. MY SON HAD GREAT HORNED OWL MAKE PASS AFTER PASS AT HIM WALKING ONE TIME.

Can't get any better than to see a big bird of prey in the woods. Mauser is right on the money with the after burners.I watched a big red tail powder a squirrel under full throttle and the fur flew! The funny thing is how they can avoid all the trees and branches at those speeds.
I have also watched the Ospreys at work. When they tuck their wings in for a nose dive on a fish it's pretty cool.
As hunters weare so misunderstood. 99% of the time our success in the woods is measured by what we see and hear.
