Default Had some fun with some gobblers this morning

I was comming home from work this morning and since it was a calm morning i wanted to drive through my lease and listen for Gobblers. It had been daylight for about 30 minutes so this puts me at the perfect time for listening. I was about a mile from my lease on a gravel road when i spotted three big strutters in the middle of the road. I got stopped about 60 yards from them and they just stood there in full strut. since i wont be hunting these birds i decided to play with them a bitI Rolled the windows down stuck my head out the window and gave an owl hoot, they all gobbled back at me [&:]I had not bothered them at all. Then it struck me that i had three mouth calls in my lunch bucket you guessed it, they were tripple gobbling at the yelps and cuts and were looking straight at me. Then the hill side errupted beside me with three more still on roost now gobbling (teenagers [8D]) Finally after about ten minutes of this i started my truck and started rolling very slowly toward them, at about thirty yards they slowly walked off the road to my right, as i got even with them they were about 18 yards on my passenger side, i yelped out the window and lord and behold they all three gobbled [&:]whats up with that? I have seen bucks get plumb dumb founded during the rut but i have never seen turkeys get so love struck that they forget what man is. just thought i would share!!

Just exactly where was this?? Tell your wife I want pancakes for breakfast on the 23rd. I seen a dozen birds on the way home from Princeton today, near the old 500 Plataleen station.

Atta' boy Danny. I took a 12 year old out for the youth season today and it was pretty rough... cloudy and rainy. The birds didn't talk after they came out of the tree and the patient style of hunting that is necessary in those conditions wasn't this particular kid's forte. So, we're going to give it another whirl in the morning and see what happens. When I say my prayers tonight, I'm going to ask for some sunshine.

i was working at a feed storeduring spring break freshman year high school and there were birds gobbling in a cedar thicket behind the store almost daily and i would bring my diaphram and call out to them. so i got the idea to sneak back there with a friendbefore workone saturday, andmy friendended up nailing a 22 lb bird with a eight inch beard. unfortunatly a lost the pick to get to shoot and ended up calling for him.
