Default For all who shoot....

This is not a post about which is better, it is a post of why you chose to go with expandable bh. Im honestly looking for what the advantage is, other than allegedly flying like a fp. Why that matters I also want to know. This is seriously aquestion that I want answered, not criticizing i want to kmow for real.

I switched this past season from aluminium to carbon and just felt expandable was the way to go with these
smaller diameter arrows. Glad I did up and to this point.

I am no techie when it comes to this but if im off oh well I like em.

The ONLY reason to go to a mechanical and the reason I went to one: HUGE cutting diameter.

I've never had the holes I've had with RM Snypers with any previously used fixed head.

That fly like field points claim only tells me that the shooter couldn't get fixed blades to do so. That means they have a untuned bow or untuned mismatched arrows. They use mechanicals as a bandaid for other issues. That's not good.

2 reasons:

1. Cutting diameter and tissue damage laterally. I want overkill soft tissue damage.
2. I have the bow energy and understandingto shoot ANY broadhead I feel like

The truth of the matter is most folks use a mechanical as a bandaid for a poorly tuned bow. They don't want to put the effort into getting a fixed blade head to fly. They don't allegedly fly like fp's, they DO fly like field points.

I've killed deer with both.Last year I went to a mechanical because of their cutting diameter. I mean, a 1 1/2" CD on a 3 blade head is pretty tough to beat. It makes a heck of a hole.

But, I also shot one w/ a Slick Trick last year......Ummmmm.....wow. That slug hole was impressive to say the least. GrizzTrick here I come for this year.

So, there are 2 advantages. FP flight, and large cutting diameter.

I've taken 8 deer with a 3 blade COC head. I wasn't getting the blood trails and induced trauma I thought I should be getting with them.....so I switched for these reasons (quoted from above):

I've now taken 6 with my mechanical head of choice.....and I won't be going back any time soon.

That's a broad statement. I've seen mechanicals not fly like/ to field points. Sorry bud.

After the holes a buddy saw I was putting in deer, he tried a pack of RM Snypers, although mine hit perfect with fp's, his did not, he was high left. His bow was pefectly tuned and had Muzzy's grouping with fp's. We couldn't figure it out so he stuck with the Muzzy's.

Never assume any broadhead is hitting with field points, even a mechanical as they may very well be off the mark. Do not hunt with a head you have never shot.

I've thought of giving them a try. I tried slick tricks this year and my doe barely bled out (partially due to the location of the hit, but still). The entrance/exit wounds were quite large, however.

You're right in not assuming that, Rob. I've just never heard or seen a mech that didn't. Apparently it does happen though. I've shot quite a few different ones, and add in the guys I know that shoot different ones.....it's a bunch. I've just never experienced it. Hence the statement I made. I mean, that is the main reason they are attractive to many.
