Default acorn hunting tip

I can't take credit for this. A friend of mine told me to fertilize around the oak tree that you want the deer to come to. It makes the grasses grow better and will help the tree produce better acorns. He said he keeps doing it each year and has great results.

I've heard this works better for red oaks.

I think he did it every spring. I'm not a farmer but that would make sense. give it time to leach down into the soil. I would not do it near the time you intended to hunt it.

You apply the fertilizer in the spring, around the drip line of the tree not by the trunk.
10-10-10 works fine.
