Default Turkey tales..had him in my lap

My son Daltonand Idecided to do a sit this evening in one of the four blinds we built today. There were two birds WAY out in the field working there way toward us, 40 min before dusk they were 22 yards right in front of us and one of them was the BIG double beard i had posted pics of a month ago. They vered to our left and entered the woods 15 yards to our left, it would have been a chip shot I know exactly where they are roosting now Im pumped, but i think Dalton will end up with first chance at this bird while im in Mo. Man i just cant wait for the season, i shot three different times today getting ready. any one else been roosting or in the field scouting yet?? lets here some storys!

How is the shoulder? Buzzard said it was not good? Can you shotgun on your hunt if you have too?

I went out to my property in Jersey County, ILearly Sunday morning. The turkeys started gobblin a little after 6:30. They were gobblin in a snow storm for a while. They really hammered it while still on the roost, gobbling at crows, owls and dogs barking. A few let loose on the ground after fly down but didn't last long once they were on the ground. I heard the last one about 7:45.

But man am I fired up and ready to go now.

Oh ...JUST SHUT UP!!! We can't go turkey hunting for another 6 weeks. I spent 3 hours driving around today checking out turkeys in the melting snow fields. I saw a lot more deer than I did turkeys today. The snow is melting and the deer are hungry after a long winter. I did see two of the biggest toms I've ever seen with mops for beards about 10 miles from home. Got to go knock on some doors. The land isn't posted so it's legal to hunt it but I just have to ask first. Maybe they'll let me post it. During my drive I probably saw 100 deer over a large area and maybe 30 birds. They seem to be spreading out. I saw a flock of 50 a month ago(unhuntble land[&:])
