I'd be perfectly happy just killing anything year in and year out...I love to hunt period. Some years I go after slammers, others I take what strikes my fancy at the time they walk by...I have a blast!

So put me down for "anything at anytime"

I'd definitely go for a decent buck every year over waiting for a monster. A "trophy rack" just isn't what I'm in it for. No disrespect at all intended towards those of you who go that route.

I think I'll take the 4 to 5 year route being I don't like to shoot the basket racks. Its not all about killing to me, being out there is just as much enjoyment. There's other animals I can hunt anyway and shoot like bear, elk, muley's, etc.

The ranch I hunt on has all types of exotics and we are on a pretty strict management program and we tend to try to shoot mature deer 4 1/2 and older but we have a lot of different animals to fill the freezer with. If I were hunting whitetails only I would probably go for filling the freezer regularly.

I hold out for a trophy. If you keep shooting those little ones how can you expect to get a big one. case in point- the buck in my avatar pic was passed at 3 years old. I shot him at 5 years old. The does suffer my wrath when I'm unsuccessful

I've killed enough 4's, 6's and and basket 8's. I'll hold out for a bigger buck now.
