They come up with IBO speed rating?

How do the setup the bow?
Arrow?
Shot on a machine?

IBO is 30" draw at 70lbs with a 350grn arrow. And my best guess would be it is shot with a shooting machine.

Germ that I can not confirm nor deny, I have heard that also. My guess would be that some manufactures would try to beef up the number by shooting an arrow with no fletch.

Whether an arrow has fletchings or not, the test arrow can still weigh 5 grains per pound.

Every one of our bows are all speed tested by being hand fired.

Around 30" draw (as long as it's got a 30" draw length sticker, who cares if itactually measures an inch or two over)with about 70 pounds draw weight (scalemust've been reading a few pounds light that day)and maybe a 350 grain arrow (oh c'mon... 300 grains is close enough), sometimes with a brass nock, sometimes without anything on the string at all. Maybe from a machine, maybe not. Then you get to the "The chronograph might've been out of calibration and reading a few fps fast" or "The dratted pencil marked down 320 fpsbut I actuallywrote 295 fps."

"IBO ratings" are not controlled by industry standards so the testing method is entirely up to the people doing the rating. They are completely free to cheat, fudge the figures and/or lieas much as they want, if they want. I don't trust them.

I guess what I was thinking is that say that 350grn arrow was fletched with feathers and that would slow the arrow down some as compared to an unfletched arrow. But then if the FPS measurement is taken at a few feet then it really should not matter.

They use a 30 inch arrow shaft that wieghs 5gpi. They shoot that out of the bow when it is at 70lbs with a 30 inch draw length they do this for every bow.
