Default When quality doesn't matter

We've read thread after thread about buying the most expensive bow, accesories, camo, cameras, etc that you can afford. Nothing wrong with that IMO, but when is good enough....good enough? What do you cheap out on in regards to hunting equipment/accessories? I go cheap on a few things.

1) Binos-I'm not a big binocular guy, I have a pair of cheap 10X50's I've had over 20 years that still work. I can't see spending $400 on them for what I use them for and how little they get used.

2) Trail cameras- had one stolen, bought a $50 digital one, works well enough and I won't cry if it gets swiped.

3) Flashlights- I lose too many of them. Guilty as charged.

4) Camo- I have a hodge podge of clearance items. If its clean and it fits, I'll wear it.

Maybe I'm just cheap.

I think I paid about $160 for the trailcam I have. I'd skimp in this area in a minute.

Of some mentioned.....I never knew I had poor flashlights until I held a good one. Ask Brknarrow if we'd have found his doe with his light. I have (probably) $600-$700 tied up in a toolbox......with nothing in it but spotlights, flashlights, radios and tracking gear. It's an insurance policy......and I've used it.

Most things....I figure you get what you pay for. I'd likely "skimp" if I was taking a chance something might get stolen.

I don't think quaility always = cost. There is a such thing as an expensive peice of crap.

I but whatever camo is on sale. I think it's overrated really. I try to conceal myself as bes as I can and control movement.....much cheaper.

Bino's: I gave $60 for APEX 8x.....rarely use them.

Trail cameras: I only have one......cost $50 when I bought it about 5 years ago. I might buy an el-cheapo digital this year.

My bow is 6 years old......I think. Paid $400.00 for it new.

I don't skimp. If I want it, I get it. I'm realistic but rarely if ever, cheap.

I prefer 'frugal' over 'cheap'.

Back when I had binocs, I had a pair of Steiner Predators. (I ran over them with my truck and they survived just fine) I won a pair of Swarovski's (sp?) but I sold them on ebay. I'm not carrying around a pair of 800.00 binocs for whitetails in IL.

Back when I had a trail cam, I had a camtrakker. (worth every penny, but I did use a ridiculous amount of chain and locks when it was in the woods)

I use a hodge-podge of flashlights. Usually maglites. I carry the baby ones for hunting and keep a big one in the truck. (they're not just flash lights, you can kill stuff with them... trust me on this.)

For camo, I wear everything from Cabela's bargain cave camo sweat pants to a Scentlok fleece jacket and pants.

I use a Summit climber because it's a good stand at areasonable price. (and it mostly survived being run over by my truck)

I use Muzzy broadheads because they are good and cheap.

I don't need much other than an accurate bow(regardless of brand), some good arrows, and a climbing treestand....that is it. Bargain gloves, hats, whatever. I cannot bring myself to buy $200 pairs of overalls because they are scent lok or anything.
