It depends, my Q2 i bought new in 05 still has the original and its fine as long as i keep it waxed. I reserved it once, but as long as it shows no excessive stretch, ill still use it.

on my X force that the string has streched, how much is too much? There these little white lines on the wheels..they are supposed to be covered up by the string I guess, and when it is visible, you it's stretching.

My '05 switchback string crept a good inch in one year. I changed it right before I sold it.

If I had a Mathews bow with a Zebra string on it......I'd check to make sure my draw was still correct witht hat bow.

AWESOME bow......terrible string (on the one I had).

Check your ATA measurements. It's a good rule of thumb to change the string/cables every two years although todays strings/cables can last longer. I know my 2001 Vortec I sold my buddy has the factory string on it. I'm making him new ones this year!

I've made a string for my 06 Ally and need to make cables now. My ATA is out of spec, string/cable crept.

I don't feel as guilty for using my string for so long after reading this post...I keep my string waxed and it still looks fine 2.5 years later......I am still going to replace it this year for psychological reasons.

How do you know when it's stretched too much?
