Well I let off a little bit of poundage off my bow for the league shoot thats been going on here and I was just curious what you guys think is a good turkey hunting poundage? I know i have killed them with 60lb draw weight on my bengal and i have also killed them with a 45 pound draw weight on my old PSE Spyder. But since those big toms always seem to get hung up and not want to come in fast i know its nice to have a draw weight that is easy to hold back for a longer period of time. I was just curious if you guys change your set ups for turkeys at all or just leave it the same way that you do for deer?
do you guys think that a Bear Archery "polar" recurve with a good cut on contact head would penetrate enough to kill a gobbler?? it has a 42 lb draw weight...
I use 55lbs for pretty much everything except deer than i use about 63lbs and i always use cut on contact on contact broadheads (just my preference) and that seems to do fine

I know a guy who has played around with lower poundage bows on turkeys. He says 40 lbs or so is the point at which a Muzzy 100 grain will stay in them. I can't turn any of my bows down that far. So the Adder washer was the solution for me.

I took my 60# General and changed the fast mods out for smooth. Also backed the weight down to 50# I'm still debating on what head to use?? I want to kill one but I don't want to tear it up rear Bad. I really want a Merriam Full Mount and the last 2 I have killed had a lot of damage. Maybe a Slick Trick Standard instead of the Mag or maybe a little 3 blade which will do less cutting, and an adder washer. I do think the General is going to make a Great Turkey bow with the short A to A.
