Besides knowing what bucks survived the previous season, what good does shed hunting do for the following year? Is there something to where bucks shed their antlers in regards to where they feel comfortable(potential hunting spot), or is it just the luck of the draw where they shed their antlers? thanks for any info.
Shed hunting, to me, is a good way to get out there and walk around and find new things for the next year. It's great exercise and a great was to just see whats in your woods. Bucks generally just drop them when the antlers are ready to drop them. There is no way to really time it, but it is best to look in the place where bucks spend most of theirs time, either in bedding areas or out in the feilds where they are at night. There is many ways to go about shed hunting and I just like it because it is a relaxing state of mind for myself.
Its usually me and my son competing with my neighbor We each (neighbor) have a side off a 140" buck and no one will give in and give the other guy his half [8D]I love the exercise as well, Ill go solo alot when the kids are in school and make a day of it, pack a lunch and so on.
