What do you guys feel is the best time to ask permission to hunt(whitetail) on private property? We own a farm, but I like a change of scenery every once in a while, you know!I ask this now because last year when I was scouting for turkeys, I saw a lot of potential spots I'd like permission to hunt, but I felt it was far too early. When do you ask?
Right now is a great time. The farmers aren't busy with crops. There's no plowing to be done, planting......They aren't very busy right now. Unless they have a lot of cattle that need feeding everyday....

I agree with Mobow. My family has a farm and now would be a great time. Speaking of which, I need to find out who owns this turkey infested patch of field I have been driving by every day!!

Since you own a farm already, then you would havea lot to offer another farmer. I'd bet anytime would be good for you to ask permissionand offer something in return.
