Bob I'm not sure how that compares to other stores selling the same camera.....but it looks like a good deal, to me. I recently bought a Sony with 8.3mp (little smaller than that)....and the prices are comparable. I think my zoom is a little more....but to be honest....i trust Nikon a LOT.

If I were in the market for a small-ish digital cam.....I wouldn't hesitate to buy this one. good luck.

The MP is good, and nice big view screen, but 3x zoom is'nt much.I think you'll end up wanting more zoom

SEEMS ALITTLE HIGH ON THE PRICE, IT'S WATER TIGHT, NOT PROOF. AND ALSO, CRUSH PROOF CASE, THAT'S NOT REFERRING TO THE CAMERA IT SELF. SEEMS LIKE IT'S TRYING TO GET MORE $ OUT OF YOUR POCKET FOR NOT ALOT OF UP GRADESTHAT MOST REGULAR DIGITALS HAVE TOO. YOU CAN GET A 12MP WITH 5X ZOOM FROM SAM'S CLUB FOR 189.99 JUST GET A GOOD CARRY CASE AND ANY CAMERA WILL DO.YOU CANGET 8MP FOR LESS THAN $130THESE DAYS.3X ZOOM ISN'T THAT GOOD EITHER.I USE THE ONE I MENTIONED ABOVE ,WHILE HUNTIND AND FISHING. I BOUGHT A $4 CASE AT WALLY WORLD, THAT IS WATER PROOF AND CRUSH RESISTANT. ONLY THING MINE NEEDED WAS RECHARGABLE BATTERIES($10) MORE. BUT I REALLY ENJOY IT. IF YOU DO BUY THAT NIKON, WRITE A REVIEW..PROS, CONS, WORTH THE MONEY OR NOT, ON HERE. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PURCHASE.

One thing I know is tech stuff, i dont know if this will help or if you already knew this, but the Megapixels is just how big the overall picture will be, not the quality, hope that helped some, if at all.

I would also try Newegg.com

MP DO COUNT TOWARDS THE QUALITY OF SHOTS. THE MORE MP, THE CLEARER THE IMAGE. YOU CAN GET BIGGER PRINTS ALSO. IF MP DIDNT MATTER, THAN WHY DO PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS USE SUCH HIGH MP'S? WHY WOULD THEY EVEN MAKE AN 8MP IF THEY HAVE 1.3 AND 3MP ON THE MARKET FOR YEARS? THAT DIDN'T MAKE ANY SENSE TO ME. ENLIGHTEN ME IF I'M WRONG.

Its the size of the total image, for instance, if you take a 12 mp camera and take a picture the image quality is great at 12,000,000pixels (or 1200 pixles like a computer screen) if you take a 8 MP shot(8,000,000), and try to stretch it to a 12MP again 12,000,000, it looks like crap. The reason they get Cameras with such High mega pixels is because they can
1. edit them without it being noticable
2. will fit any size posters, billboards, what have you.
The quality will stay the same if you go down, but never up, try d/l a 800 pixel picture and putting it on your desktop (assuming you have a 1200xXXX amount computer screen)
Hope this helps.

Most of the quality of pictures is lighting, shutter setting, and lens, MP do make a difference only if you want good quality@ a large size.
