Racking my brain on the two. I have not found a local dealer to shoot the katera yet but it felt good holding it. I REALLY liked the DXT which I have shot. Still torn..any opinions?
This is simply my opinion but i liked the hoyt Katera better for the fact that i thought is was smoother and i just shot it better. Iprefer a smooth draw cycle. The DXT seemed to have a lingering buzzing noise after the shot (maybe just the individual bow/lack of an sts). But if i were to buy a bow this year it would be the Diamond Marquis (not relevent to your question but just my .02)!

yep if i was going for a brand new bow, the Diamond Marquis would have my hard earned dollar.
But its what you like and what feels best to you, find somewhere to shoot that hoyt before you buy one, but with todays features it would be hard to be disapointed with any new bow.

I felt the dxt was smoother to draw, more quiet and lighter, plus I like a really short a-a bow, but the katera is really nice too. Along those lines, you'd being doing yourself a disservice if you didn't try the bowtech general and airbornes as well as PSE's X-force. Can't go wrong with any of them imo.

Have you held one from this year? They lightened them up considerably.
My brother bought a trykon 2 years ago ... I love the way it shoots, but I couldn't believe the weight .... I'm glad to hear they have lightened them up

Yeah 4.5 lbs and 33inches is still no where near 3.7 lbs and 29 1/2 inches. They are alot lighter but once set up they are still 6lbs or better and the mathews can be kept around the 5 lb mark. When carrying a bow around the mountains or around the 3d course that bow gets heavy after awhile. I've shot both and to tell ya the truth my arm got tired of holding the katera. Another thing is how much bulkier they are than the DXT. I am a die hard hoyt fan but I'm still not impressed with what hoyt has done in the last 3 years besides parrallel limbs and speed. If they can shorten and lighten their 70 lb bows to under 4 lbs they have it made. Hoyt needs some major changes and I hope to see it in the 09 models. I think the DXT sales this year will spark a fire under their buttand come up with a very improved bow that is much more hunter friendly. They need to ditch the backward brace and change the limb system to lighten that bow up and maintian speed and strength and they will be back on top again......... To answer the queston between the two bows for this year I'd say hands down the DXT but it depends on your preference. Some guys like the heavier bigger bows but personally I like em light and compact. I want to get a new hoyt but when I hunt out west and my old hoyt havoc xt is the same weight as the DXT I can't bring myself to buy a new hoyt that weighs so much more when I shoot my bow just fine. I'll just wait till they come up with a bowthat fits my styleor I'll be switchin to the Mathews. wCL
