The other night i was scouting and glassing some fields and i saw something very odd. I saw a buck (or antlered doe) sporting about a 120" velvet rack. He (she) was with 3 other doe, which makes me think that it was possibly an antlered doe.
Any of you have experience with this? I have heard of it happening, but have never experienced it personally.
I do know that if a buck loses its testicles somehow it will not produce testosterone and that can cause something along these lines.
Nevertheless, a weird encounter....

i had a magazine called weird white-tails. it had a full velvet buck in november i think it was, anyway, it was indeed a doe... very cool none-the-less.

I've never seen an antlered doe that I recognized as a doe. You should be able to tell by head and neck.
There is/was one in PA here, a friend of mine has her running around, a 4pt and she drops twin fawns every year he sees her. Technically, she's off limits. Can't shoot her as an antlered deer because of point restrictions and can't shoot her as an antlerless deer. [&:]
Anyway, we see pics every year of antlered doe, don't recall one this year except those of the past.
If it's a buck that damaged his testicles, yes they may/will stop shedding the velvet and will retain the antlers as the testosterone levels in the buck will dimish.
Any which way Michael, that is so cool. Would she/he be something you could go after and would you?

He (she) is on a piece of property that i have exclusive permission to turkey hunt on, but do not have permission to deer hunt on it (Yet). I hope things go smoothly again this spring so i can get in good with the land owner and get permission on the property. There are a lot of good bucks on the property. I do have permission to hunt the neighboring property, but it just isnt as good.
Hopefully i will be scouting it this summer!
