Default Early Season Whitetails

So this is going to be my fist season bow hunting, I plan on hunting September and into mid October. I'm going to be hunting in the praries andI plan on setting up in a colee along a game trail, is there any calls that I can use that early in the season?

I don't know when the rut is in Canada, but I'd be looking at hunting closer to the rut.

If you can pattern a buck in the offseason the best time to get him is your 1st couple trips into your stand. After that they get educated real quick! Then its time to wait till the rut!

Deer are social all year around its more a matter of how aggressive. Its always safe to throw out a series od doe bleats nad fawn blats it lets local deer know that other deerare in the area and going about thier business. Light grunting can also be worhtwhile as bucks will start to social grunt when they are heading in and out of fields to feed, at least this is what I have noticed in my 20 years of hunting, and I grew up hunting on the northern border of NY 5 miles off hte canadien border.

Actually a lot of the top trophy hunters in the whitetail world prefer hunting early -- before the rut hits. Though they do tend to be on their feet more, they're totally more unpredictable. Early on, they're often still in their summer feeding patterns.

If "he" lives in that core area, I say it easier to get him early season than during the rut if you are after a particular deer.
