Default To Add to Atlas Thread/Direction for your state

What do YOU think is the right direction for your state as a whole.

Remember not just the area you hunt.

Here is my number 1
1 manage the state in 4 different zones atleast
UP, NLP, CLP, SLP I would like to see more, but that is a start.

Two things for MN I would like to see...

MN's gun season falls right in the middle of the rut. I like to see the gun season bumped back a week or two, just so that the bucks are not taken advantage of at their very most vulnerable time.

Outdoors in general, I'd like see MN FINALLY pass a dedicated natural resources funding bill for clean water, habitat, preservation, etc....similiar to what Missouri uses. This idea has been locked up in the legislature for years, and while our elected officials continue to argue, bicker and point fingers, our natural resources continue to suffer. MN COULD have some of the very best in the country if we would put some money into it.

Allow thetaking ofmultiple deer without making it necessary to draw a second antlerless only tag.

Whether its through an earn-a-buck system or just allowing us to tag multiple deer, we need it.

Michigan -

Limit of one buck per season. The "restricted" tag has to go (a buck must have at least 4 points on one side to use the restricted tag under current rules).

All it does is encourage hunters to shoot small, young bucks. After all, if a nice buck comes by later, I still have my restricted tag!

Our buck to doe ratio is ridiculously out of whack. The restricted tag is the reason why. If we only had one buck tag, hunters would start being more selective and letting some young bucks grow up. And if they wanted meat, they'd shoot more does which is exactly what we need in many areas of the state.

Down with the "Restricted" Tag!!!!

better management of our herd as a whole....currently we have no doe tags and, i feel too many buck tags allowed. i would like to have an archery season during our rut (all season except for special draws - hard to draw zones - end before the rut) ... currently our great Govenor...sir actor himself...is cutting jobs state wide and our F&G is going to be hit with about a 10% decrease in funding...thus cutting about 28-34 jobs in our F&G department......not that it is not bad already.......

WORD!!! Also, smaller WMUs to better manage the public land so that it doesn't get smashed while trying to get deer off of the private tracts. Rob may have meant that by micromanaging the does, but I'm not sure.

I'd also like to see archery season (bucks and does) open 2 weeks earlier so we could try to use feeding patterns.
