Default New Guy Question (Don't Bash)

Hi all, as some of you may know I am trying to go hunting in Alaska when I get back from deployment, now the Alaska Bowhunting reg's say "Only use arrows tipped with a broadhead and is at least 20" in overall length and 300 grain total weight." Now my question, (sorry again, if I seem slow[:'(]) is 300 grain arrow and broadhead weight or just the arrow weight, and how will this affect my peak draw??

300 grain is for the total arrow, including broadhead.

ok, thats what I thought, now how ill this effect my peak draw, because I have seen charts that show 250 grain for no more then 60 lbs draw or so, i think, is that true? Any ideas?

The above are correct.

If it where me I would make sure I am over 500 grains. Best thing to do is check your KE.

I would say anything over 60 is good for any Alaska game. I would set mine up for over 70 ft.LBs where I am now for whitetails

Germ likes his KE so high so that the arrow will not only pass through the animal but will bury to the fletching in the dirt afterwards

You can draw any weight you want (so long as it is above the state minimum obviously) and get an arrow to fit you, not the other way around. Easton has an arrow chart that allows you to input your draw weight, length, bow cam type, broadhead weight and it tells you what your manufacture recommended shafts are. I am sure other arrow manufacturers are similar.

Best of luck on the hunt!
