Default arrow backstops....

hey guys we are making a archery range in the unfinished part of our basement. all of my familys bows shoot over 300 fps, and i was wondering what a good backstop was to stop the arrows if we miss the target, one that stops the arrow, but doesnt break it....thanks

You lost me at "doesn't break it".

I have a sheet of marine grade 3/4" plywood behind my target. If I miss my 2x2 from that range......it's MY FAULT. The price of one arrow is a small price to pay!

I used an old windbreakfor atennise courts one time. Also seen a trampoline matt used. The key is to let them hang loose so the materials will take the force and the arrow wont go through.

Beltline...go to a local coal mine and ask if you could have some beltine...Its tough, waterproof, and the arrow doesn't go completly thru it..I would try your bow on it first!!!...Make a brackert to hold it vertical...give space behind it for the upper part of the shaft..because it'll go thru som

I wonder if old mattresses would work?

Fill up a couple of boxes with old clothes. I have tried this and it works just fine, but I did try it with a crossbow I don't know if the extra length of the arrow would affect anything. Just to compare my CB puts out about 86 ft/ibs so a 300FPS bow should be stopped just fine.

Hang a piece of carpet over some clothesline behind the target, let it hang loosely to absorb the arrow's energy.

You could use the rubber truck bed mat, cheap and easy!
